Trump and Putin to Discuss Ukraine Ceasefire in Budapest Summit

U.S. President Donald TRUMP announced plans to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Budapest to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine. The discussion follows a lengthy phone call between the two leaders on October 16, where Putin agreed to the summit. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other advisors will prepare the groundwork ahead of the meeting.

Trump disclosed the call in a social media post, noting "great progress" in discussions. The announcement precedes Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to the WHITE House, where Ukraine seeks increased U.S. support against Russian aggression. Trump has previously threatened to supply Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles to pressure Moscow.
